Lung Lino
This collection of work is part of an ongoing series on mine, depicting parts of the human anatomy through linoleum printing. The inspiration came after I went to a printmaking conference in Madison, Wisconsin, a week and a half post surgery. During my time in the midwest I saw a collection of artists' books, containing the most beautiful mezzotints of anatomical studies. Collectively it was a self-confrontational experience, having been laid out on a surgical table less than a month ago and coming face to face with what an individual carries with them on the inside; a subject that makes me incredibly uncomfortable. Being a new printmaker at the time I wanted to create my own series of prints in my chosen medium, linoleum, with the intention of one day making my own artist's book.
