Adalucian Tiles

My designs are inspired by the art of the past. Travels to historic areas of the world reveal the similarities in design from generation to generation and region to region. I am amazed to see the same patterns, colors, concepts, and designs appear in cultures that never crossed paths. My love of the Early American Decorative Arts also influences my work. The abstract shapes present in indigenous cultures around the world appear decades later in our early American patterns. Canvas floorcloths were used from the early 18th to the early 20th century in England. American colonists initially made them with old sails from boats.
